Soup time!

Now that there’s 9 inches of snow on he ground and the windchill is dropping things into the single digits (F), that means it’s a perfect time to make my world famous*, award-winning** tomato bisque. Made with carrots, celery, onion, and of course, love***, this will warm you up on a cold day. Pictured here garnished with sour cream and a couple of crackers. You’re all welcome to some.

  • not actually world famous
** has not won any awards
*** basil (but not Toni Basil)

That does look really good. Careful, you might be visited by the Frostbite Fox tonight. You’d better lock your fridge!

I made veggie stew tonight. And now I know the pitfalls of using pre-chopped store-bough mirepoix. Oh, they gave me carrots, onions, and celery all right… but WHERE was the love??!

The only thing I use that’s “store made” is I buy cans of diced tomatoes and use that. I hate peeling and dicing tomatoes that much. All it means is that you won’t find a random tomato seed in the soup from time to time. No one has ever noticed a difference!
