This is one of my projects from my web design course, this guy was my best friend.
This tech was in its infancy when I left high school and has advanced by leaps and bounds beyond me. By the time I learn this, they’ll have something else
I graduated in 99, what about you?
91
They barely had light pen graphics
In my day, we drew in the dirt with sticks, and we liked it!
You’re about my cousin’s age. Straight Gen X.
I’m what they call ‘xennial’ x/millenial cusp.
In my extended family the ‘big kids’ were the GenXers and the Millenials were the ‘little kids’. I sat at both tables at family gatherings. I had a lot of cousins.
CSS didn’t come out until 97. Before that you had to put all the color and sizing into the html. It must have been so tedious to write.
Same. Huge Catholic family. I tell my nieces we used to go to two funerals a year between 1980 and 1997… Now, its coming back around as my aunts and uncles are in their 70s and 80s…
We only got together for weddings and funerals
Thats why I never got into it. Some companies still used PUNCHCARDS
In the mid 90s I worked at a place converting paper files to MICROFILM
Now everything is straight to digital on the cloud.
My uncle died this year, we didn’t go to the funeral. I wish I could have learned more about him, he was a Vietnam Vet, smart guy. Said he got attacked by a monkey while he was in a foxhole during the Tet offensive…even the monkeys were in the VC!
My dad came back with very bad PTSD. Mom said he had nightmares of burning bodies.
I can understand now, but not as a baby.
He hated and resented me. Never spent time with me. Only two “good/happy” memories of him.
He died of a heart attack brought on by severe alcoholism
My cousin Willie married a nice woman whose father was also a Nam vet who died recently and he was a little traumatized but otherwise well adjusted.
Lucky me
I only saw my uncle Chuck lose his shit once when I was 7, he had hearing issues from the war as well. He got on well, but he was married 3 times. He had a hectic married life until he met his last wife.
