SET LIST/word list
Notice of Rules Infraction from Monica Midnight
The Drifters - Sweets for My Sweet (“Tasty”) - 1962
Ella Fitzgerald - Oh, What A Night For Love (“Bolt”) - 1958
Peggy Lee - Life is so peculiar (“Beef”) - 1950
Bing Crosby - Takes Two to Make a Bargain - (“Party of the First… Heart.” Yeah, I know that’s wrong, but I’m already disqualified for this week, so it’s a moot point, isn’t it?) - 1935
@ UlezUlysses - I did consider the Zappa/Captain Beefheart number, but I didn’t go with it (choosing instead to cheat). You and Alice DID match on Hank Snow, though!
THERE’S A MATCH!!
Nice set! We’ve got an open seat next week. Do you want to DJ with me? I promise I won’t lock you up in the sound booth and leave. It’ll be just like this, but I would need your mix by Wednesday night. A dropbox link like this one is cool.
Yeah, I’m in. I’ll send you a DropBox link sometime after the weekend.
@Wolfmanof72 - I considered Sweets For My Sweet but by The Searchers which I prefer. But when I listened carefully they’ve changed the lyrics from the Drifters version “your tasty kiss” to “your first sweet kiss” so I dropped it. I don’t much like the Hank Snow track but finding the lyric wasn’t easy.
Yes, I noticed that as well (about how they changed “tasty”). I like the Searchers version as well. Have you heard the Beegees version, from when they were kids? They did a great job, but they sang it like the Searchers did.
I also ran into the problem that all the lyric sites said that Bing sang “It’s got the party of the first part.” But if you listen to it, the song cleverly says, “It’s got the party of the first heart” instead. Ya can’t trust the internet!
Body of message is too short, so…
Once again, I’m thoroughly confused… but glad yer amused… (shrug)
Also, I didn’t realize there was an emoji for a line of dudes dancing to “Zorba”… Hmm!
Opa! Opa! Breaks plate
