I’d recommend the cheapest simplest phone and a little, but not the total cheapest tablet for on the go. There are a lot of super cheap tablets out now and they’re useless. A medium priced tablet is WAY cheaper and better than a cellphone and there’s always a McDonalds nearby with wifi if you’re in a jam to look something up.
I have an HP x360 chromebook. you’d love drawing on touch screen and it does Android apps… (link at bottom)
This one is $330. the 8gb of ram is why I’d get this over the 4gb $200 model. It might be ok. I don’t even like HP. I bought mine because it was on sale, but I can at least vouche that it’s ok. I got my dad a $200 Lenovo chromebook when I ordered mine and his was a world crappier. I didn’t realize it until later. I thought he just hated new technology. The thing was super slow and unusable. If you’re going to try new toys, make sure there’s a good return policy. I’m really big on trying electronics and returning them until I get something that works for me. All of the companies put their own garbage on everything now, so unless you research, it’s really hard to know what a new device will be like.
